News has broken that a young ten year old girl has given birth to a 6lb baby in St. Anthony, Idaho. She was apparently raped by a 37 year old man, who is a suspected illegal immigrant, and got pregnant when she was just nine years old. Doctors say the girl may have a medical condition that made her hit puberty early.

The police were alerted after medical staff reported it, when the young girl went in for treatment at a Doctors office. She and her baby girl are now in state custody. The man who raped her is being held at the Fremont County Jail, where bail has been set at $250,000. Apparently, even if he posted bail, he would not be released because his status is in question.

This story totally breaks my heart. The young girl has endured enough to leave some very deep mental scars that she will carry with her for the rest of her life. Now everything has changed for her. Chances are she may not be returned home if her home conditions are found to be unsafe, and the baby will more than likely be taken away from her anyway. There don’t seem to be any reports of her home life right now. There has been no comments from her parents concerning the case, and nothing about her home life either. I think that, in itself does not bode well for the future. I only hope this young girl can try and start to heal from this terrible incident.

People told me I was crazy to be having a baby before I turned 20. My daughter was born a month before I turned 20. I can only imagine what these same people will say if and when they hear this incredibly sad story.
