We’re Home!

Posted by: retardedrugrat on: March 31, 2008

Finally we’re back. We arrived home late afternoon yesterday, where we were immediately greeted by Tara sulking behind the sofa, and Adina all round us wanting a fuss and attention. It was definitely a “cute factor” in our return.

Our vacation was pretty good. Jeff got a lot of skiing in with his Dad and the other 8 people in the group, and I – well I had to wait till the afternoons to really do anything. Our agreement was that Jeff would ski in the mornings and spend the afternoons with me. Big White really doesn’t have a lot of things for people like me who don’t ski/board so we had to head on out of the resort to find things to do. That’s going to change next winter, but more about that later.

Jeff and I spent most of our afternoons down in Kelowna which is a beautiful city. Again, it is kind of dead outside tourist season, but Jeff and I have been there in the height of tourist season too, and it’s so vibrant. We visited a couple of places that we were unable to visit last time due to time constraints, and we did in fact enjoy a walk along the Art walk too. I got to visit Kasugai Japanese Gardens which are just amazing. If you didn’t know where to look, you’d miss them.

Thursday evening we all went snow tubing. I can’t stress how much fun that is. Sitting in an inflatable tube and being shoved down a hill. It’s actually what they call a Mega Coaster, where the hill is groomed so there are bumps along the way. At the top, you’re asked if you want spinning. Of course I said yes. The result? I screamed all the way down and even when the tube stopped moving, the surrounding area was still spinning lol. An interesting feeling that I haven’t felt since I was a kid and went rolling down the hill near home for fun.

Jeff managed to get in some good skiing. A couple of days he was in early because of the cold and the visibility, but for the most part he had fun, and got to spend a good amount of time with his Dad. Predictably enough, they both cried when they said goodbye yesterday morning, and I’m glad that I made the choice not to go to say goodbye too. I wanted to give them the privacy they deserve.

We came home with a LOT of alcohol. Jeff’s Dad and their group stayed in a Condo, so they bought in a lot of food and alcohol. However, they decided not to fly it home with them, so we now have an entire shelf in the fridge dedicated to Alcohol lol. I have no idea when we’ll get through it, because neither Jeff nor I drink a lot. Still, it’s kinda nice to see it there lol.

It’s definitely nice to be home despite everything. I missed the cats (yeh I’m a sap), and as comfy as our room was, it wasn’t home. Would I take the same vacation again? No, not without being able to ski or board. Finding things to entertain myself in the mornings while Jeff was skiing was hard. Most days I stayed in our room with a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, and watched trash TV. Still, it wasn’t all bad, and if I could ski or board, it’d definitely be a possibility.

The week was good for the both of us. We finally came to a decision about the route our lives are taking, and where we want it to go. We’ve agreed that we’re moving. Getting out of Vancouver for good. The Okanagan Valley has so much to offer the both of us, and so we’re starting to work on moving out there. Not sure whether to rent or buy yet, though housing prices out there are WAY cheaper than Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. There are still many things to be worked out before then, but how could anyone resist waking up to a view like this?

Anything is worth a view like that. That photo was taken in Kelowna, but I have a lot of others that I took too. A few of them are taken in the Resort, and some are from Kelowna. The best of them can be found here. Hopefully you’ll enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them. More on our move later.

Ciao.

I think I still have some alcohol in this place that someone bought us when I moved in … It’s probably had kids by now :-)

Sleepypete: Lol, that made me laugh, cuz in the fridge, I actually have a bottle of Bacardi that my Jeffers bought for me when we drove out to BC from Ontario three years ago. It’s still more than half full so you know, it probably is well on it’s way to having kids now too lol.

sounds like fun! haven’t done any winter-type activities since, oh, maybe 10 years ago… one of these winters, when Kosh has more time to himself, we *will* make it to a ski slope somewhere… and that snowtube sounds fun too, looking forward to trying it out one day :-)

Babe, may I remind you…

MEN
DON’T
CRY!

Lynne: Snow tubing is just stupid fun you know … the kind of event that everyone loves no matter how old or young they are. I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I did.

Jeff: Guess you and your Dad ain’t men then huh?

Its GOOD to have you back again hun =]]. Still waiting to see your million piccies tho lolz!

I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t add my two cents to Jeffs “Men don’t cry” bit – I’d have to disagree. Real men aren’t afraid of showing emotion…its the “boys” who haven’t learnt that its okys yet =].

snwinchester: It’s good to BE back!! There is actually a link to my Flickr account on this post that shows some of the pics I took lol, though they’re the smaller sizes, so I should prolly upload my bigger ones into a post here lol.

Lmao @ your comment to Jeffers!!
